Too Many Gaps in Grocery Access Exist in Wards 7 and 8 Where Many Children Live

Wards 7 and 8 have only four grocery stores between them (up from three in 2018), meaning that each grocery store serves tens of thousands of people. This is double any other ward of the District. Thanks to hard work by food access advocates, local leaders, and more there are now three more grocery stores in the pipeline in wards 7 and 8. Still, even once those are operational there will still be gaps in grocery access, particularly in ward 8.
